ERWIN—With Carter County American’s No. 1 pitcher on vacation, the No. 2 had to step up and lead her team against one of the state’s powerhouse little league programs.

Haley Fair had no problem and her teammates did the job in the field to secure the victory in a 4-1 win over Daniel Boone in opening-round play in the 11/12 Little League District 5 All-Star Tournament at the Unicoi County Little League Field on Monday night.
