Three Elizabethton runners competed in the AAU Jr. Olympics at the end of July in Des Moines, Iowa, and while none won their meets, they all set personal records in at least one event.
Sophomore Maci Shell, junior Autumn Thomas and eighth-grader Porter Bradley all made the trip in order to compete with the best competition at their age levels.
“It was definitely really cool,” Shell said. “You get to see how many people that are your age and are so fast. You get to see everyone that is like you and that is practicing year round and wants to get better.”
