Clues could bring cash as The Great Chase begins

Carter County Bank is celebrating 75 years of serving Carter County this month, and they are celebrating in a big way — a few lucky people will win a $50 gift card and will qualify for a grand prize giveaway of $1,000.

The festivities will kick off on Monday morning with The Great Chase and will conclude on Thursday evening with the Great Taste of Carter County.

The object of The Great Chase is to find one of four commemorative medallions hidden in Carter County. Clues to the location of the medallions will be announced each day on Monday, Sept. 22, through Thursday, Sept. 25, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Clues will be revealed on the Carter County Bank website, www.cartercountybank.com, and also through event sponsors the Elizabethton Star and WBEJ radio. The Elizabethton Star will post the clues on its website www.elizabethton.com and WBEJ will announce the clues on air on 107.9 FM and 1240 AM. The clues will also be given out using social media — through Carter County Bank’s Facebook page and the Elizabethton Star’s Facebook page and Twitter account.

Those who find a medallion are asked to call Teresa Treadway at 423-676-3041 to confirm the find and then turn in their medallion and claim their prize at the main office of Carter County Bank, located 601 E. Elk Ave., from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The daily winners will be asked to meet Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the City Parks and Recreation Center at 300 W. Mill St. A ticket will be issued for the daily winner to participate in The Taste of Carter County, where the grand prize will be awarded.

Each contestant will have the opportunity to draw a number from one to four. The contestants will then go in numerical order and select one of four identical briefcases — one of which contains the $1,000 grand prize.

Participants must be at least eight years old to play, and only one winner per family or household will be allowed. Those under 18 must have signed parental consent to participate in the grand prize drawing. Employees and immediate family members of employees of Carter County Bank, WBEJ or the Elizabethton Star may not participate.
