Many sports fans can easily identify the logos and mascots of their favorite teams, but seldom can they name the individuals who drew and designed them.

If you walk into Brown-Childress Stadium and look up at the press box, you will see, in big-black letters, the words “Fighting Cyclones.” Located in between those words is the muscled-out mascot of Elizabethton High School. If you make your way up the bleachers and look real close, you will be able to see the signature of former Elizabethton resident and illustrator Danny Wilson, who painted and designed the mural back in the 1980s.
