It was a bad day for Carter County teams in the District 1-A softball and baseball tournamentsTuesday in Greeneville.

It was the end of the road for both the Hampton Bulldogs and the Unaka Lady Rangers.

After competing with the North Greene Lady Huskies in eight innings of play, the Lady Rangers dropped the game 3-2.

The loss comes after a hard-fought 4-3 win over South Greene Monday.

Unaka came into the tournament as the No. 3 seed, after going 6-4 in the Watauga Valley Conference.

The Bulldogs also lost a close battle Tuesday, losing their game with South Greene 3-1.

After a season that wowed many, the ’Dogs came into districts as the second seed.

During their 7-2 season, the Bulldogs turned heads when they gave North Greene their only loss in the regular season.

Today in softball, University High will take on North Greene for the district title, while South Greene and North Greene duke it out in baseball.
