Police are investigating the vandalism of a local church after a window was broken out.
On Tuesday, Carter County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Mark McClain responded to Sinking Creek Baptist Church, located at 2313 Elizabethton Highway, after the pastor called 911 to report the church had been vandalized.
“Upon arrival, I spoke with the Pastor, a Mr. Jayson Hoagland, who advised that sometime last night or early this morning someone had busted out a portion of a window at the church,” McClain said. “Mr. Hoagland showed me the window and there was a busted Dr. Enuf bottle below the window as if someone had thrown the bottle at the window.”
McClain said the window was in a wall of the church that faces the Elizabethton Highway.
Hoagland told McClain the church has a security system equipped with video surveillance and one of the cameras covers the area where the window was broken. The pastor said he would save the video recording from the security camera and turn it over to investigators.
