Lady Cyclones drop Senior Night match to West Ridge

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclone volleyball team was hoping to make Senior Night 2021 a memorable one for the two seniors on their team in manager Victoria DeMare and player Mattie Davis.

However, the visiting West Ridge Lady Wolves were having none of the celebrations as the visitors handed the Lady Cyclones a 3-0 defeat.

West Ridge narrowly took the opening set winning 25-20 before handily defeating the Lady Cyclones in the night’s second set 25-9. With the match hanging in the balance, the Lady Cyclones couldn’t overcome the Lady Wolves in the third set as West Ridge took a 25-19 win.

Grace Martin led the Lady Cyclones with 19 defensive digs while Davis finished with 11.

Krisalyn Elliott and Makiah Williams collected seven kills apiece in the match with Davis adding six kills.

Jayci Bowers added 22 assists in the Lady Cyclones’ defeat.

Elizabethton will be hosting the district tournament beginning Monday.
