wo people were taken into custody Tuesday morning after leading law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase through Elizabethton.
The chase began around 11 a.m. in Elizabethton, led by a white sedan trailed by law enforcement vehicles. The chase continued through U.S. 321 towards Johnson City, onto Mary Patton Highway towards Hampton and back down 19E towards Elizabethton, at speeds of up to 90 mph.
The driver crossed into the southbound lane on 19E and appeared to be tossing items from a window before crashing into a guardrail at the intersection of South Sycamore Street and Highway 19E.
At that point, two people exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
