An Elizabethton man found himself back in jail this week after police say he threatened a witness against him in a pending drug case.
Officers of the Elizabethton Police Department arrested Noah Benjamin Lowe, 29, 500 Jena Beth Drive, Apt. C, on Monday on a warrant charging him with coercion of a witness. Officers also served Lowe with an outstanding warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.
The new charge against Lowe came after a man reported to police Lowe had threatened him over a pending court case. The man, whose name has been withheld, is a witness against Lowe in a pending Criminal Court case in which Lowe was indicted on two counts of the sale of Schedule III drugs.
Lowe was arrested on the indictment on Sept. 18 and posted bond several days later. He was out on bond when he allegedly threatened the witness. He is being held in the Carter County Detention Center under $3,000 bond.
Lowe appeared in Carter County General Sessions Court on Tuesday and was arraigned on the new charge.
He is scheduled to return to that court July 28. His next appearance in Criminal Court on the original drug case is set for Aug. 24 for a plea deadline.
